All OCHA staff have free access to LinkedIn Learning, which has a wealth of resources on career management and development. For instructions on how to access LinkedIn Learning as a UN staff member, please see the LinkedIn Learning page on the HR Portal.

Additionally, a consultant has been engaged through the Office of Human Resources to assist with career coaching.  They can discuss your career options and career management strategies and can also help you to review your PHP and conduct mock competency-based interviews to help you prepare for UN selection processes.  You can reach out to them directly to schedule an appointment by email at: uncareercoaching@gmail.com

OCHA National Staff

FAQs/Guidance are available for OCHA national field staff on applying to international vacancies in the UN Secretariat. These FAQs are available in English, French or Arabic.

OCHA national field staff are eligible to apply to the International United Nations Volunteer (IUNV) program. If selected for an IUNV assignment, subject to the agreement of their manager, they may be released with a lien, which is a return right to return to their parent position with OCHA at the conclusion of their international UNV assignment.  A IUNV posting can be a good way to gain professional work experience at the international level, as prior international work experience is often a prerequisite for many UN jobs in the international professional category.
