Operational Web Platform (HumanitarianResponse.info) - Guide
Managing your HumanitarianResponse.info site is a crucial aspect to OCHA Information Management response. Keep in mind that HR.info is aimed at operational responders in-country and we want people to get on and off the site as quickly as possible. It is not intended for a global audience.
Here are three situations in which a Humanitarian Response site can be setup:
- When a Humanitarian Information Coordination Cell (HICC) is requested and activated
- When a level 3 emergency is declared, as defined by the Inter-Agency Standby Committee
- For a smaller scale emergencies, at the request of an OCHA office which has the capacity to manage the site
Here is the OCHA checklist that needs to be considered to activate the new site:
- OCHA country office requests a new site by sending an email to help@humanitarianresponse.info
- The Humanitarian Response support team will create your Humanitarian Response site at the latest two days after your request. They will ask you the email address of the person who is going to set up the side from the OCHA field office site.
- Identify who from your field office is going to be the focal point for the site maintenance. Usually, this task is attributed to the IMO.
- Create the login for the field office focal point using Mozilla Persona
- If you are a regional office, Identify and develop the site navigation structure and create a template.
- Otherwise, please follow the initial steps to set-up your website instructions.
- In case of migration from an existing site to the new Humanitarian Response site, identify the content that needs to be migrated to the new site and prioritize the content.
- Ensure that all the content moves successfully to the new site. You can use the "data import feature" to migrate your content.
- Your office is responsible to provide the necessary support, training and user guidelines to the other field officers for the site maintenance.
- OCHA country office launches the new site.
- OCHA country office regularly captures the user feedback and communicates it to the Humanitarian Response support team for improvement. The Humanitarian Response support team regularly adds new features to adapt the site to the user requirements.
